Executive Director of Strategic Estate & Financial Planning
Andrea Sanft is an Executive Director and Estate Planning Strategist in Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management Division. Andrea works with Morgan Stanley’s ultra high net worth clients and their outside advisors on complex gift, estate and income tax planning matters. She focuses on wealth transfer and business succession planning as well as charitable giving.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Andrea was a practicing estate planning attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York for over 15 years. She received her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University Law School. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. She also served a three-year term on the Estate and Gift Taxation Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Andrea has lectured and written on various estate planning subjects, including the seminal article titled, “Trusts as Hedge Fund Investors? Accredited Investor and Qualified Purchaser Rules for Trusts and Other Estate Planning Vehicles,” published in the BNA's Securities Regulation & Law Report and Alternative Investment Law Report. Andrea also coauthored a chapter in “The International Comparative Legal Guide to: Private Client” in each of 2012, 2013 and 2014, published by Global Legal Group, which addresses various tax planning issues for individuals residing in the United States and for those planning to establish US residency.
